| Security and PIN
Protection |
Every terminal must pass an authentication process
with the eFresh Server before it can be used. Your
pins are stored in an encrypted form from the time
they are received until the time they are printed
on the terminal for presentation to the customer.
Every pin is encrypted with a random DES key from
a customer specific key set and every communication
between the server and each terminal is further
encrypted using DUKPT. DUKPT stands for Derived
Unique Key per Transaction. That means the key is
changed after every transaction is processed. Every
terminal in your network will use a new unique key
for every transaction. VSI's secure proprietary
encryption scheme guarantees the integrity of the
information using a message authentication code.
Duplicate PIN records are not permitted in the database
due to constraints that will not allow the same
PIN record to be inserted twice. The combination
of product code, pin serial number and pin batch
number must be unique or the database will simply
not permit the record to be inserted by any application
or means. Further protection against duplicate PIN
sales are provided by extensive data checking and
error correction during communications. As a final
step, PINs can be quarantined by the server automatically
if there is any possibility of an error in the PIN's
status.
| eFresh Server Applications |
eFresh has been developed by VendTek
and is modular, flexible, and scalable. The design
of the software allows the selection of specific
features and the choice of terminals regardless
of brand. VendTek can customize the applications
for the specific market requirements to ensure the
software meets your needs.
Each eFresh application functions independently
and can be installed on one or more computers to
provide redundancy and scalability. The eFresh server
applications are modular and support a wide variety
of functions which can be configured to suit your
individual business requirements.
The eFresh server software modules include multi-language
context sensitive help bars and cover all aspects
of operating the transaction network and can be
adapted to any specific requirements you may have.
The existing functionality includes:
Transaction Processing |
Network Monitoring |
Reporting |
Merchant Management |
Terminal Management |
Customer Support |
Each eFresh module functions independently and can
be installed on one or more client PC's to create
a scalable server solution that meets your needs
and budget. This allows the number of simultaneous
terminal connections to increase with network expansion
providing total scalability.
eFresh runs on Intel processors using Microsoft
operating systems such as Windows XP, NT, 2000 and
2003. eFresh is designed to work with the enterprise
standard Oracle database (running under any operating
system such as UNIX, Linux, or Windows).
eFresh integrates with Crystal Reports to give you
total control over reporting. Advanced configurations
include database replication for reporting and backup,
full redundancy, alarming and paging, and disaster
recovery systems. |
eCommNet is the transaction engine for the eFresh
system routing data between the clients and the
server. It performs data transfers and encryption
and checks clients for proper identification and
status.
Clients can connect using dial-up or TCP/IP and
each eCommNet client can now accept up to 60 simultaneous
transactions of each type of connection.
The eCommNet clients are redundant so maintenance
can be done on the system with limited impact.
Server responses to clients can be sent in the language
requested by the terminal. Current languages supported:
English, French, Chinese, Spanish, and Portuguese.

|
eFresh Manager provides management functions for
the eFresh system including PIN management, alarms,
monitoring, and access control.
An interface is provided for importing and exporting
PINs. Stock levels are monitored and low inventory
triggers configurable alarms. Other applications
are monitored and configurable alarms are triggered
if transaction processing is stopped for any reason.
The alarms can be sent via SNMP, SMTP or MAPI.
Manager provides a user account management interface
to configure users' access rights to each server
application
New Service Provider modules allow quick implementation
of connections to other servers for functions automated
stock ordering.
 |
eFresh Scheduler automates Crystal Reports and eFresh
maintenance tasks, such as invoicing.
Each task can be configured to run daily, weekly,
monthly or at a specified date and time and with
specified priorities. Output can be sent to via
email or FTP or direct to a file or printer.

Network management functions are consolidated into
one interface in the eFresh Control Centre.
Clients can be grouped as required to reduce administration
time.
eFresh Control Centre provides the interface for
client and site management, as well as product offerings
including voucher receipt layouts for the clients.
Layouts for all network vouchers can now be viewed
and managed together in one screen to facilitate
full product terms and conditions updates network
wide more easily.
Control Centre also manages merchant accounts and
wholesale transactions.
Terminals can be linked to merchants to allow for
commission calculations along with transaction limit
controls.
Wholesale accounts are handled via order management
and can be prepaid or post paid accounts.

eFresh Cash is optional functionality that allows
network management of cash deposits for selling
prepaid vouchers. This can be effective in markets
where credit or electronic payments are not available.

Web based reporting can be installed with the eFresh
system. This provides an easy to use interface for
reporting and reference. Users can have different
access levels to support management, sales organizations,
and merchants. Sales organizations have access to
terminal data for all merchants that they are responsible
for on the network.
Client access to eFresh Web requires nothing more
than a web browser, no plug-ins are required. Reports
can be customized by each web user.
|
|
eFresh Viewer is a customer support application
that allows viewing of transaction information along
with any other database table in the eFresh system.
It provides real-time database access for customer
service inquires.
Authorization to view decrypted PINs is controlled
separately for sold and unsold PINs. If needed,
a voucher can even be created and printed.
User configurable interface layouts mean you can
control which tables will be displayed on the main
page and which fields of each table will be shown.
Multiple layouts can be created and saved to allow
all users to view the data they need.
Users can easily search for records using default
search fields as well as a custom search field which
allows searches based on any field in the current
layout. Search result fields can be drilled down
by using the search button beside each result field.
For searches returning multiples records, the results
can also be viewed in a grid for easy comparison
of records and fields.

| eFresh eTransport
and Pin Import |
eTransport is an offline application designed to
run at the PIN Provider's location. It provides
file compression and 3DES encryption. Written in
Java it can run on many platforms including Windows
and UNIX. It requires no user intervention and can
be easily integrated with the Provider's PIN generation
system.
PIN Import runs on the eFresh server to accept supplier
PIN files and enable the PINs to be loaded into
the eFresh database. It recognizes multiple source
file formats and new product profiles can be created
to easily support new pin file formats. All PINs
are DES encrypted with a random key before loading
to the database.

eFresh Pin Entry can be used to operate an eFresh
system even if you can't obtain a supply of electronic
PINs. PIN data can be entered using customizable
forms that provide error checking and controls to
reduce data entry errors. If prepaid cards are being
used, a complete image of the card can form the
data entry screen to provide a familiar interface
to the user. Multiple profiles can be created to
match all products required.
